Banana on a Cutting Mat

This chine-collé print titled "Banana on a cutting mat" was Georgie's first venture back into intaglio for years. It incorporates a monoprint on yellow paper which was wheat pasted and fed through the press with the perspex dry point plate. The print came from an evening of experimentation with imagery that she reminisced over from her university years. "What it was like to work flat out on graphic design projects where instant energy was needed at arm's length for when I started flagging, my workspace always featured a cutting mat and a banana among other things. It reminds me of where grafting can get you but to anyone else viewing it, it's just a vibrant banana on a geometric background which is kinda cool anyway". The print was displayed publicly in Cresent Art's "Made to Measure" exhibition which celebrated 40 years of the centre for arts, of which Georgie is a member.
